The Summer School of Development Assistance

The Summer School of Development Assistance has been running at Palacky University in Olomouc since 1998.

It is a five-day summer school and is held at the beginning of September. There are places for 75 university students and other participants who are motivated to become more familiar with the topic of development assistance. The backround of the participants is broad as they come from different universities. There are for example, economists, environmentalists, politologists, etc. Some of the participants have little experience of this topic and some will be attending for the second time.

The overall objective of the Summer School is to provide basic information about topics related to Development Asistance, such as the Czech,  EU and international approaches  to the subject, concrete examples of development projects, MDG presentations, Climate Change topics and others. The subjects will be introduced in a series of 90 minute presentations. Time is allocated for discussion of the topics.

The second part of the program consists of workshops focused on developing practical skills such as Project Cycle Management, Ethics in Development Assistance, the Do No Harm concept and others.

The third part of the program is about the offer of real working or volunteering opportunities for the participants. There are people from different organizations attending and they will be presenting such possibilities.
