About our department

The Department of Development Studies at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University in Olomouc was founded in September 2007. It offers three-year bachelor and successive master programme International Development Studies. This programme was founded back in 2003 under the auspice of the Department of Geography and nowadays is managed by the Department of Development Studies.

The International Development Studies programme is one of the first of its kind in the Czech Republic and in the region of Central and Eastern Europe.

Location

The department is situated in the city of Olomouc, the centre of the Olomouc region. Our department resides in the building of the Faculty of Science, which can be easily found near the city centre, between the Bezruč Park (Bezručovy sady) and the dormitory grounds called Envelopa. You can reach us by walking from the main train statin along the Třída Kosmonautů street within 10 min.
